| Job Description |
Position Summary
Prepare and use resin saturated fiberglass panels and molds to produce and bond together hulls, decks, soles and other yacht components for further assembly.
Essential Job Functions
• Measure and cut materials to the required dimensions using hand and/or power tools.
• Mix resin and catalyst in proper proportions and apply by hand or with spray gun.
• Clean, wax and prepare molds for use.
• Grind fiberglass as required.
• Paint finished surfaces with Gelcoat and/or paint.
• Perform rough carpentry tasks on fiberglass and structural components.
• Wear appropriate PPE including respirators and chemical-resistant Tyvek coveralls.
• Move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Repetitive use of hands for simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation.
• Stand on inclined surfaces for extended periods.
• Frequent bending, walking, kneeling, squatting, twisting.
Additional Job Functions
• Maintain clean work area.
• Follow all Westport policies and safety rules.
• Maintain excellent attendance record.
• Expected to work overtime and flexible hours as needed to meet production schedules and departmental needs.
Requirements
• Basic math, reading and communication skills.
• Ability to follow verbal, written and pictorial instructions.
• Function as a part of an effective team.
Other Preferred Skills/Abilities
• Prior work experience in Lamination.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an indoor, climate-controlled production environment for the most part. Noise levels are moderate with some chemical odors present.
